Dear Raider Families,
We continue to see great momentum across Hastings Public Schools this spring. Of course, that momentum has included a few surprises, from power outages to a bear making an appearance near one of our school neighborhoods. While we cannot always predict what the day will bring, we can promise that student safety remains at the center of every decision we make.
I would also like to take a moment to recognize our Spring 2026 Employees of the Semester. These individuals go above and beyond each day to support our students, staff, and community.
Congratulations to:
Hastings High School: Krista Giesen and Laura Zabel
District Office: Andy Larson and LynDee Humble
McAuliffe Elementary: Bonnie Whitehill and Linda Berg
This time of year is also an important opportunity to celebrate the people who have dedicated so much to Hastings Public Schools. On Friday, April 24, we will hold our annual Retirement and Recognition Event. This year, we are proud to honor more than 20 retirees, staff members receiving years-of-service recognition, and our Employee of the Year. We are grateful for the lasting impact these individuals have made on our students, our schools, and our community.
One upcoming event that highlights this momentum is the 4th Annual Raider Sports Awards, which will be held on Monday, May 4, at 7:00 PM in the Hastings High School Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public, and we hope you will consider joining us.
The Raider Sports Awards celebrate an outstanding year in student athletics. This year, we will recognize eight teams that earned conference, section, or state championships, as well as more than 100 individual student-athletes across nearly 20 categories. We will also honor seven Coach of the Year recipients for their leadership and dedication. Pete McGinnis will be inducted into the Wall of Honor in recognition of his lasting impact on Raiders athletics.
As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we are building a Destination District where students are at the heart of all we do.
Go Raiders!
