Superintendent Update

Dear Raider Families,

At Hastings Public Schools, one of our core values is Partnership. We believe we are strongest when we collaborate with students, families, businesses, and our broader community to support learning and strengthen our shared impact. Public education is not the work of schools alone. It is a collective effort built on trust, communication, and a shared commitment to student success.

Two strong examples of partnership at Hastings Public Schools are our collaborations with Hastings Bus Company and the Hastings Police Department. Through these ongoing relationships, we strengthen the safety, support, and overall experience of our students while reinforcing our shared responsibility to help every learner succeed. We invite you to join us in recognizing and celebrating the following important appreciation days.

National School Resource Officer Day – February 15
On February 15, we recognize National School Resource Officer Day. We are grateful for our School Resource Officers, Georgeann Freeman and Jim Domeier, who serve our schools with professionalism, care, and commitment. Beyond their role in safety and security, they build positive relationships with students and staff, support problem-solving, and help create a school environment where students feel safe and supported. We thank them for the important work they do each day in partnership with our district and the Hastings Police Department.

National School Bus Driver Appreciation Day – February 18
February 18 is National School Bus Driver Appreciation Day. We are thankful for our drivers and staff from Hastings Bus Company who safely transport our students to and from school, activities, and events throughout the year. Their reliability, relationship building, patience, and focus on safety are essential to the smooth operation of our schools. Please join me in thanking our bus drivers for the care they show our students every day.

No School – President’s Day
A reminder that there will be no school on Monday in observance of Presidents’ Day. We hope students and staff enjoy the long weekend and return refreshed and ready for the weeks ahead.

Upcoming Events
We have many great events coming up across the district, from concerts and performances to academic showcases and community activities. I encourage you to take a look at our Events Calendar to stay informed and find opportunities to support our students. You can view the full events calendar here.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for all you do to support Hastings Public Schools. We are proud of our students, staff, and community.

Go Raiders!
