Raider Update

Hastings Middle School August 2024

Principal Corner

Ryan Wynn

Dear HMS Parents, Guardians, and Students,

Welcome back to another exciting school year at Hastings Middle School! As we prepare to embark on the 2024-2025 school year, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for the warm welcome I’ve received as the new principal of HMS. I’m thrilled to begin this journey with all of you and am eager to see the incredible achievements our students will accomplish this year.

At Hastings Middle School, we are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive. Our House Model plays a key role in this mission. This model creates smaller, community-focused groups within our school, ensuring that every student feels connected and supported.

In the 5th grade house, we have three teams: Blue, Gold, and White. In the 6th-8th grade houses, there are two teams in each: Blue and Gold. Each team is dedicated to building strong relationships, enhancing student engagement, and fostering a sense of belonging and school pride. We believe this approach empowers our students to reach their full potential, both academically and personally.

New Drop-Off Process

We’ve made some important changes to our drop-off and pick-up procedures to ensure the safety and efficiency of our school operations:

  • Parent Drop-Off and Pick-Up:

    • 5th & 6th Grade: Drop-off and pick-up will take place on the Highway 55 side of the school.

    • 7th & 8th Grade: Drop-off and pick-up will take place on the Pinecrest side of the school.

    • Families with students in multiple grades: Choose either the Highway 55 side or Pinecrest side for drop-off and pick-up. We ask that you consistently drop-off and pick-up on the same side of the building to allow us to supervise students adequately.

  • During School Hours:

    • All pick-ups and drop-offs during school hours must be conducted on the Pinecrest side only. This change is in place to enhance student safety and streamline our processes.

We appreciate your cooperation in following these new procedures, as they are designed with our students’ safety as a top priority.

We are committed to making this school year one of growth, learning, and success for every student. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns as we start this new chapter together. Let’s make this year one to remember!

Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community. I look forward to working together to ensure a fantastic school year for all our students.
