Dear HHS Parents, Guardians and Students, |
We’re well into November, and it’s been an exciting start to the month! Last week’s College and Career Fair was a wonderful opportunity for students to explore future pathways and connect with colleges, training programs, and local employers. A huge thank-you goes out to our staff, volunteers, and community partners who helped make the event such a success.
This week’s newsletter includes a few key updates, upcoming events, and reminders as we move through the busy weeks ahead. We’re proud of the continued engagement from students and families—your support makes all the difference as we work together to prepare learners for life beyond high school.
Thank you for staying connected and for helping make November a month full of purpose and progress!
Warmly, Scott Doran

With Cold weather season upon us, please make sure you are checking the Hastings Public Schools website for the most up to date information about school closings. |
For students who drive to school, remember to start planning ahead for the chilly temps! Start those cars early and give yourself plenty of time to make it to school safely when the snow falls. |

ACT Test to be held on Thursday March 5th at HHS @ 7:50 am |
|
Beginning in the Fall of 2027, there are discussions that colleges and universities may begin to require the ACT as part of their admissions process. For those attending a 2-year technical and/or community college, you can use your ACT scores instead of the Accuplacer placement test.
The cost to take the ACT on March 5th is $60*.
Please use this link to sign up. Payment information is within the linked form. By filling out the form, you are letting me know you are taking the ACT here at HHS, but you will still need to create an ACT account to receive your scores (more to come on this!).
*If you received Educational Benefits, there is not cost to take the ACT. BUT, you still need to fill out the form
Payment information is within the linked form.
Sign up will close on December 3rd. NO LATE SIGN UP WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Over 900 students attended the fair; vendors ranged from trade industries-professional, small to large businesses, 2 year-4 year colleges, and every branch of the military. Students were able to connect their career interests and practice a vital workforce success skill: communication!
Vendors repeatedly commented on how much they loved that we offered this to all of our students and how special that was. Thank you all for showing up and supporting HHS and our community! |

Whether it’s assisting staff, greeting students with a smile, or anticipating needs before anyone asks, Smiley embodies true service and pride in his work. His attention to detail and proactive care ensure that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Smiley’s dedication doesn’t just maintain our building—it strengthens our sense of community. On Wednesday, November 5th, our HHS LEAP Program had special visitors from North Star Therapy Pets.
Dorothy Bensen and the loveable Spring spent some time snuggling in the sun with some very happy HHS students. The students were able to get to know Spring and learn more about her job as a therapy dog. Students are looking forward to another visit on Wednesday, November 26th from Dorothy and Spring! |
