Dear HHS Parents, Guardians and Students, |
As we move through November, we’re taking a moment to celebrate some fantastic student achievements from across our school community. Whether in academics, activities, or service, our students continue to impress us with their hard work, leadership, and creativity. We’re proud of all they’ve accomplished so far this fall!
With Thanksgiving break just around the corner, it’s a great time to reflect on gratitude and connection. One of the things we’re most thankful for is the strong partnership between families and staff.
Open, ongoing communication between parents and teachers is key to supporting each student’s success—thank you for continuing to engage, ask questions, and collaborate in your child’s learning.
Warmly,
Scott Doran

Fiona is an extremely dedicated student-athlete who inspires others with her unwavering discipline, work ethic in the classroom, example she displays in sports, and her leadership throughout the school. She is a three sport athlete and competes in soccer, wrestling, and track and field. Fiona is a Link Crew Leader, National Honor Society member, Best Buddies, and an FCA huddle leader.
Mr. Haneberg shared: Fiona’s ability to lead comes directly from her high character, which she exemplifies through morality, courage, and integrity. She is a phenomenal young woman and an amazing support person for fellow students.
Ms. Massmann describes Fiona as: A great energy and sense of humor as a leader, while also consistently showing up as a steady and reliable presence.
Academically, Fiona’s work ethic and perseverance stand out. “Even when the material was difficult, she approached class with a positive attitude and worked hard to reach her goals. She was a delight to work with every single day” said Ms. Benson.
Congratulations to Fiona on this well-deserved recognition!

ACT Test to be held on Thursday March 5th at HHS @ 7:50 am |
|
Beginning in the Fall of 2027, there are discussions that colleges and universities may begin to require the ACT as part of their admissions process. For those attending a 2-year technical and/or community college, you can use your ACT scores instead of the Accuplacer placement test.
The cost to take the ACT on March 5th is $60*.
Please use this link to sign up. Payment information is within the linked form. By filling out the form, you are letting me know you are taking the ACT here at HHS, but you will still need to create an ACT account to receive your scores (more to come on this!).
*If you received Educational Benefits, there is not cost to take the ACT. BUT, you still need to fill out the form
Payment information is within the linked form.
Sign up will close on December 3rd. NO LATE SIGN UP WILL BE ACCEPTED.

This week's faculty feature is Christian Waage! |
We are celebrating Mr. Waage today for his unwavering commitment and dedication to his students in the classroom and around the building. When asked, his students report they love having him as a teacher because he goes above and beyond to make learning fun; they know that he cares about their success in school and in their future; and he cares about them as individuals. Additionally, Mr. Waage brings this commitment and energy to the soccer field as a coach, and his players appreciate this. |

With Cold weather season upon us, please make sure you are checking the Hastings Public Schools website for the most up to date information about school closings. |
For students who drive to school, remember to start planning ahead for the chilly temps! Start those cars early and give yourself plenty of time to make it to school safely when the snow falls. |
