Dear HHS Parents, Guardians and Students, |
December has arrived, bringing with it a familiar pattern of snow and chilly mornings across Minnesota. As winter settles in, we remind all students to drive carefully to and from school—roads can be slick, and a little extra caution helps keep everyone safe.
This is also one of the most exciting times of the year on campus! Over the next few weeks, we’ll enjoy a variety of student performances highlighting the incredible talent and hard work of our students. We encourage families to come out and support these memorable celebrations leading up to winter break.
Thank you for helping make this season one filled with joy, creativity, and community spirit. Stay warm and enjoy all the wonderful things December brings!
Warmly, Scott Doran

Ryder Ashcraft was nominated by Mr. Olson, Mr. Lutz, and Mr. Feikema for Rotary Student of the Month. All three teachers describe him as an exceptional student, athlete, and leader who consistently puts others first. Ryder is praised for his servant leadership, strong character, and positive influence on teammates and classmates. He excels academically, leads FCA as a three-year captain, and is known for his encouragement, humility, and willingness to help others. His teachers consider him an outstanding role model who embodies the core values of service, teamwork, and integrity.
Mr. Lutz shared that Ryder serves with purpose and grace, while Mr. Olson added that Ryder puts others first in everything he does. Coach Feikema followed up that Ryder is one of the finest young men you could ever hope to meet.
Congratulations to Ryder on this well-deserved recognition!

Every Friday, our HHS LEAP students will be "brewing inclusion on the move" as they prepare and deliver made-to-order coffees, drinks and snacks right to staff member's doors!
Opening day was a HUGE success! Students brewed and delivered 36 cups of coffee! What an AMAZING way to kick off a Friday and celebrate meaningful, hands-on learning while we work on life skills, job skill and communication!
Way to go Raider Refuel! |

This week's faculty feature is Serina Stokke! |
We are celebrating Mrs. Stokke today for all her work with our LEAP program. She has been instrumental in starting the Raider Refuel Coffee Cart. This helps her students learn about employability skills, customer service, and taking orders. Additionally, Mrs. Stokke has worked hard ensuring that her students have experiences through the school - Best Buddy program, Unified Physical Education, and traditional high school classes.
Because of her hard work and dedication, her students are getting an exceptional experience - and Hastings High School is a better place because of it.
Congratulations Mrs. Stokke!
