Dear HMS Families,
It was a short but eventful week at Hastings Middle School. After the long weekend, students returned on Wednesday eager to learn, and classrooms buzzed with activity despite the winter chill.
On Thursday, our seventh graders participated in their Courage Retreat, a day devoted to building resilience and positive peer connections. It was inspiring to see them step out of their comfort zones to support one another, and we are so proud of the courage and leadership they showed.
Many students contributed creative ideas to our Raider Way T-Shirt Design Challenge this week. We’ve extended the submission deadline to next Friday (January 30) to give everyone extra time to participate. We can’t wait to see all the imaginative designs and have students vote on a favorite!
As this week ends, we face extreme cold that closed school for students today. While we miss having them in the building, their safety is our top priority. Thank you for your flexibility and support, and we hope everyone stays safe and warm. |

T-shirt Design Contest Deadline Extended:
We are asking students to help us create our new Raider Way T-shirt for the Raider Cove. Originally the deadline for these designs was January 23rd and the new deadline will now be Friday, January 30th. Here are a few reminders: |
- The design must incorporate the school name, school colors and school logo
- The t-shirt color will be white
- Sketch your design on a plain piece of copy paper with your name and grade written on the back
- Turn into the Wellness center by January 30th
- Students will then vote on which shirt they like the most during advisory.
- The winner will be announced on February 6th.

Norovirus has made its way back to HMS. This illness spreads easily, so please help us limit the spread by reinforcing healthy habits at home and school: |
- Wash hands often with soap and water

Clean and disinfect surfaces regularly
- Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands

Students who experience symptoms must be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school. This helps protect everyone and keeps our building healthy. Thank you for your partnership in keeping HMS safe and well,

Lost and found items are primarily located near the gym. These include clothing, water bottles, hats, and similar items, which students can collect during the school day. After school, students and families can access these items by entering through the gymnasium doors. Smaller valuables, such as headphones and jewelry, are kept at the Welcome Center. These can be retrieved during school hours or after school until 3:30 pm. Please remind your child to regularly check the lost and found for any missing items throughout the school year. Unclaimed items will be donated on the following dates: |

Parent/guardians are welcome to eat lunch with their student. Please alert Rachel Boatman in the Welcome Center 24 hours in advance either by phone (651-480-7062) or email (rboatman@isd200.org). When notifying Rachel Boatman, please state the day you are planning on coming in to eat lunch and your child's name/grade level. To enter the building, you will need to show your driver's license as part of our check in system. Grade Level Lunch Times are Below:
