Dear Hastings Middle School Families,
This week at Hastings Middle School was filled with hard work, celebration, and school spirit. Our students showed perseverance during Math MCA testing, staff continued to collaborate closely to support learners, and we are wrapping up the week with special events and recognitions. It has been another strong week of learning and community at HMS.
Our students approached the Math MCA on Tuesday and Wednesday with focus and maturity. Many came prepared with charged Chromebooks and a positive mindset, and they worked through each session with care. Staff reinforced Raider Way expectations throughout the building, and students were recognized for doing their best, staying focused, and supporting one another. We are proud of the perseverance and responsibility our Raiders demonstrated.
We are also ending the week on a high note with opportunities for students and families to come together. Tonight, we look forward to our HMS Jazz Night concert at 7:00 PM in the gym. Our Jazz Too, Jazz Band, and Spiral Singers are ready to share an exciting evening of music. Thank you to everyone who helped prepare for the event, and congratulations to 8th grader Lorelei Anderson, whose design was selected for this year’s Jazz Night T-shirt.
Looking ahead, there is no school tomorrow due to staff development. Science MCA testing for grades 5 and 8 will take place on April 29 and May 1.

Later this spring, students can also look forward to our annual Treat Trucks event during advisory on May 27 for grades 5 and 6 and May 28 for grades 7 and 8.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Whether you are helping your child prepare for school, encouraging them through testing, or attending school events, your support makes a real difference. We are grateful for the strong HMS community and proud of all the ways our students continue to grow.
Go Raiders!

The Raider Way Team uses the PBIS (positive behavior interventions and supports) framework that teaches and reinforces what it means to be safe, respectful, and responsible at HMS. This is a key component to building community and helping everyone at HMS feel safe and supported and that this is a place they belong.
You can reinforce the Raider Way in your family in the following ways:
|
-
Teaching expected behaviors (example: how to be safe, respectful, and responsible in a grocery store)
- Recognizing and acknowledging specific positive behaviors that you see

Another week with no new updates from the health office 🙂
We appreciate everyone continuing to support healthy habits—washing hands, getting enough rest, and staying hydrated to keep our HMS community strong and well.
Thank you for your continued partnership, Nurse Erin and Nurse Katie 🌸
