Dear Kennedy Families,
As we approach the midpoint of the school year, our teachers are engaged in winter assessments across grade levels. These assessments are an important part of our instructional cycle and help us better understand each student’s progress in key areas such as reading, math, and foundational skills.
The information gathered allows teachers to:
Celebrate growth students have made since fall
Identify strengths and areas where students may need additional support
Make thoughtful adjustments to instructional plans, small groups, and interventions for the next month or two.
How families can support learning at home:
You can support your child’s learning by maintaining consistent routines at home. Reading together for 15–20 minutes each evening, practicing math facts during everyday activities, and ensuring your child gets enough sleep all contribute to focus and success at school.
Ask your child: “What is something you’ve been working hard on in class, and how do you know you’re getting better at it?”
Looking ahead, assessment information can be discussed in more detail during parent-teacher conferences at the end of next month. These conversations help us partner together to support your child’s continued growth.
Morning Drop-Off Reminder:
This is a reminder of the importance of following our established morning drop-off plan to help keep students and staff safe.
Please be sure to use the designated drop-off route each morning. We also discourage families from dropping students off along Tyler Street, as this can slow the flow of buses and is not an area monitored by staff. Using the planned drop-off procedures helps traffic move smoothly and ensures students are supervised as they arrive at school.
Thank you for your cooperation and partnership in keeping our school community safe.
Sincerely,
Kyle Latch
Principal
