Dear Kennedy Families,
Be sure to check out our Cougar News Network video, where several of our students highlight key events and celebrations happening around our school. Thank you to Mrs. Beaver for leading this fun and engaging opportunity for our students to share their voice and keep our community connected.
A big thank you to the Kennedy Cougar PTA for sponsoring and organizing last Tuesday’s family event at Slick City. It was great to see so many of our families come together for a fun evening. We appreciate the time and effort that goes into creating these opportunities for our community.
We also want to recognize Ms. Auby and all of our kindergarten and first grade classrooms for their wonderful informances this past week. It was a joy to see students confidently sharing their skills with families—thank you for the time, preparation, and care that went into making these events so special.
Across the building, classrooms continue to focus on strengthening literacy skills. Many grade levels are beginning their final reading module of the year, and it’s exciting to see students applying all they’ve learned. Next week, our third and fourth grade students will take the statewide MCA assessments. We encourage all students to simply do their best—these assessments are just one snapshot of learning. They do not define who our students are or what they are capable of, but they do help us celebrate progress and identify areas where we can continue to grow.
At-Home Connection:
As we continue to build strong literacy skills, a simple way to support your child at home is to ask them to share what they are reading and talk about it together. Even a few minutes of conversation—asking what stood out, what they learned, or what they found interesting—can make a big difference in building comprehension and confidence.
Ask Your Child:
“What is something you read recently that taught you something new or made you think differently?”
We are also currently looking to add a recess aide to our team following a recent resignation. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children, being active, and helping create a positive and safe recess environment. Recess aides play an important role in supervising students, supporting positive play, helping problem-solve conflicts, and building strong relationships with students throughout the day. If you or someone you know may be interested, please consider applying under posting 2321.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and school community.
Sincerely,
Kyle Latch
