Dear Kennedy Families,
The safety of our students is always our top priority. We know that when children feel safe and cared for, they are better able to learn, grow, and thrive at school. That’s why our district partners with the “I Love U Guys” Foundation and follows their nationally recognized Standard Response Protocols. These protocols guide schools across the country in building consistent, clear practices that keep students safe while also keeping school welcoming and supportive. Please see the summary page of this protocol below.
As we start the new school year, we are making a few small but important updates to our daily routines to strengthen safety at Kennedy:
Deliveries (lunches, backpacks, etc.)
Families will now leave items inside the main doors in the vestibule area. You will not need to come into the main office. To help us get items to the right student quickly, please attach a short note with your child’s name and teacher to whatever you are dropping off. Our staff will check the vestibule and deliver items to students. Hastings Middle School has used this procedure for several years, and it helps keep the building secure while still making sure students get what they need.
Morning Arrival:
We also want to keep morning arrival calm and safe for all students. For this reason, parents and guardians will need to say their well wishes and goodbyes outside the school. Our staff will be available at the doors and in hallways to warmly greet students and help them get to their classrooms.
We understand these changes may feel different, especially at the start of the year, but they are part of our ongoing effort to provide a safe, supportive, and predictable environment for every child. We appreciate your cooperation and partnership as we put these practices in place. Together, we can make sure Kennedy is a safe and welcoming school for all.
A quick reminder: If you haven’t already signed up for your family’s Raider Set Go appointment for today or tomorrow, please take a moment to do so. These appointments help us start the year strong by building connections and sharing important information. If you need any help scheduling, simply call the office—we’ll be glad to assist you (651-480-7221).
Sincerely,
Kyle Latch
