Raider Families and Staff,
As we enter a new week and approach the final stretch of the school year, this update includes important information about the new superintendent, solar initiatives at the high school and Kennedy Elementary, and key dates as we move toward the end of the academic calendar.
New Superintendent - Welcome Dr. Kristine Wehrkamp Herman
At a special board meeting on May 13, 2025, the Hastings School Board voted to select Dr. Kristine Wehrkamp Herman as the district’s next superintendent. Dr. Wehrkamp Herman, who currently serves as the superintendent of Royalton Public Schools, brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to student success. We are excited to welcome her to the Hastings community and look forward to her leadership in the years ahead. Additional information can be found below.
Solar Update
For several months, the district has been preparing to install solar panels at both the high school and Kennedy Elementary. The high school panels will be roof-mounted, while those at Kennedy will be ground-mounted. During last week’s board meeting, the final placement for the Kennedy panels was approved, and they will be installed behind the school. The location document is available in the board materials from last week’s meeting. Installation is set to begin this summer.
