MCAULIFFE WEEKLY UPDATE

10.31.25

Dear families,

We need school volunteers to help students with their reading/math, and related work.  Please fill out this Volunteer Form if you are at all interested. Once I know who is interested, I’ll narrow down the specific details with each volunteer!!!  Thank you so much for considering helping our school community in this capacity!!

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Halloween!
Here are five quick tips for parents of elementary-aged kids to help ensure a fun and safe Halloween night:

1. Be Bright and Visible:
-Add reflective tape or stickers to costumes and treat bags, especially if they are dark.
-Have your child carry a flashlight or glow stick to help them see and be seen by drivers.

2. Ensure a Safe Costume Fit:
-Choose costumes that are the right size and are short enough to prevent tripping or dragging.
-Opt for non-toxic face paint instead of masks, which can obstruct your child's vision and increase the risk of a fall.

3. Supervise Trick-or-Treating:
-Accompany all children under age 12 while trick-or-treating.
-If older kids go out alone, agree on a safe, familiar, and well-lit route and a specific return time. Remind them to stick with their group.

4. Practice Pedestrian Safety:
-Remind kids to walk, not run, and to use sidewalks whenever possible.
-Cross the street only at corners or crosswalks. Teach them to look left, right, and left again before crossing,     and to make eye contact with drivers.

5. Inspect All Treats:
-Teach your children not to eat any candy until they return home and you have had a chance to inspect it.
-Discard any treats that are unwrapped, homemade (unless from a trusted source), or look suspicious or          tampered with. Be mindful of choking hazards and food allergies.

Thank you!
