Message from the Superintendent

Hello Raider Nation!

We have some exciting concerts coming up that showcase the incredible talent of our students. Please mark your calendars:

  • HS Fall Vocal Concert: October 13 at 7:00 PM, HS Auditorium

  • HS Band Concert: October 21 at 7:00 PM, HS Auditorium

  • HS Orchestra Concert: October 28 at 7:00 PM, HS Auditorium

Please refer to the events calendar on our website for further opportunities to support our students in their activities.

In addition, parent-teacher conferences begin this week. We strongly encourage you to connect with your child’s teacher to discuss their academic progress and ask any questions you may have. These conversations are vital in supporting your student’s success.

Please also note that due to the MEA break on October 16-17, there will be no Raider Update on October 19. Regular updates will resume the following week.

***College & Career Fair: November 7th**

All students, grades 9-12, will attend the College & Career Fair at HHS during Raider Connect Time.

The fair offers a little bit of something for all of our students: 

  • high school-age employment to post-high-school employment

  • post-high-school educational paths 

  • military options

  • local to worldwide industry partnerships for career exploration

  • unions, apprenticeship programs, job shadowing, and more!

We thank all of our community and industry partners for their time and dedication to all of us at Hastings Public Schools!

***How to Pay for College--October 20th***

Seniors and their families are invited to attend this financial aid informational session on how to pay for college.

We will discuss the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), grants, loans, and scholarships.  We will also offer information on various ways to go to college for FREE.

Please join us in the HHS Lecture Hall from 6-7 pm on Monday, October 20th.

Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) 2025-2026

Parents of students with special needs are invited to join Hastings' Special Education Staff in discussing how to support one another and provide input on district programming. Please mark your calendars for the Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) 2025-2026 meeting dates!

It's Not Too Late to Claim Your Tax Refund

If you missed the April 15 due date, it still may not be too late to claim tax credits. You can even go back up to 3 ½ years to claim income tax credits you qualify to receive.

You may be able to claim credits like the:

  • Child Tax Credit

  • Renter’s Credit

  • Working Family Credit
