11/14/25
We had another great week at Pinecrest, filled with meaningful learning, reflection, and kindness. In honor of Veterans Day, many of our students created mini posters with photos recognizing family members who have served in the armed forces. These posters were displayed in our hallway, creating a powerful tribute that our students and staff could walk through each day. We also set up a version of America’s White Table to honor those who are missing in action or held as prisoners of war. As part of Tuesday’s morning announcements, we shared the symbolism behind the items on the table, helping students understand the importance of remembrance and appreciation.
Later in the week, we celebrated World Kindness Day on Thursday with a schoolwide kindness bingo challenge. Each classroom worked together to complete acts such as writing a kind note, thanking someone who helps them, inviting a classmate to play, and holding the door for others. It was inspiring to see students so eager to participate and to notice how their small actions made a big difference. The halls were full of smiles, gratitude, and thoughtful gestures. We’re proud of how our students continue to show kindness and respect each day.
We are also excited to share that our district has hired a new Native American Liaison. Please see her brief message below:
Boozhoo! (Hello!)
I'm Cyan Peacock-Hale, the new Native American Liaison for Hasting Public Schools! I'm here to help bring more Indigenous culture, voices, and traditions into our schools - from art and music to community events that show how beautiful and alive our culture is.
Fun fact about me: I wasn't named after the color - I was actually named after a character from the comic book Spawn!
I'm really excited to get to know all of you and help make our schools a place where everyone feels seen, supported, and proud of who they are. Miigwech!
Have a wonderful weekend and read, read, read!
Sincerely,
Mr. Bakker
