Message from the Superintendent:

Superintendent Champa

Greetings Raider Families and Staff,

It’s hard to believe that Homecoming 2024 is already behind us.  With the homecoming spirit, our buildings were buzzing with excitement, from the ever-popular dress-up days and creative door decorations to the pep fest and competitions.

As we move into the final full week of September, today’s Raider Update includes important information and reminders about educational benefits, an opportunity to learn more and participate in ensuring safe routes to school and a preview of our upcoming Raider Events.

Educational Benefits

Did you know "Educational Benefits" are more than Free and Reduced Lunches? Educational benefit applications determine how much funding our school receives for educational programs, supports and technology.  Additionally, eligible families and students can qualify for WIC Benefits, the Metro Transit Assistance Program, reduced internet programs (FCC Affordable Connectivity Program), scholarships or discounts on camps, athletic programs, child care, and more.  Specific information regarding family benefits are available here.

Ensuring Safe Routes to School

Safety is a top priority in our district, and we are committed to establishing secure routes for students traveling to and from school. Thanks to a planning grant from the Minnesota Department of Transportation, we are developing a comprehensive Safe Routes plan for all six of our school sites. This plan will provide recommendations to make walking and biking to school easier, safer, and more enjoyable for students and their families.

We need your help, please take five minutes (5) to complete our survey by October 15. Your input on current travel practices will provide key information as we structure this plan. SURVEY LINK

Additionally, we’ve included an interactive map where you can share your feedback on existing walking and biking routes, as well as note any barriers or opportunities for improvement. Your insights will directly contribute to making our schools more accessible and safe for everyone. INTERACTIVE MAP

Thank you for helping us create a safer, more comfortable commute for our students!

Susie McQuade

Staff Spotlight: Susie McQuade

Pupil Support Assistance staff (PSAs) are paraprofessionals who help provide support and resources to students in our district so these children can thrive and succeed to their highest potential. PSAs assist by helping with teachers' educational reinforcements, collaborating with Special Education staff to implement strategies for student’s individual needs, and facilitating guidance in social/emotional needs and behavior supports. It is an understatement to say they wear many hats to help our kids succeed.

Susie McQuade has been wearing those hats for 17 years in ISD 200. She worked as a PSA for 14 years in middle school but had just started her third year at HHS. “I work with a wide variety of students. They are all important, and all deserve a quality education. I think it’s important for them to know that they have someone who cares about them at school,” shares Ms. McQuade

Ms. McQuade started working in ISD 200 when her children were in school. While she wishes school started later so she could sleep in longer, she loves her job! “I love my coworkers! People who work in public education are caring, supportive, and FUN! I also love the variety of my job, going to different classes, and making meaningful connections with students.

Susie says that her family inspires her. She enjoys having her summers off to spend time with family and friends and be outside as much as possible. She loves boating, concerts, flowers, and long walks in the sunshine.

Thank you, Susie, for your work with our students in ISD200. You make a difference every day!
