ACTION ITEM - 26-27 SCHOOL BUS TRANSPORTATION - AUGUST 7TH DEADLINE
Students in Grades K-4:
Students living in areas eligible for busing will automatically be routed. If you plan for your student in grades K-4 to utilize bus transportation, there is nothing further you need to do.
If you do NOT plan for your student to utilize bus transportation, please let us know by completing this OPT-OUT form by August 7, 2026.
For families who know they will not be using bus transportation, opting out allows the district to plan more efficiently, which reduces ride times and means lower costs and fewer changes after the year starts.
Please note: If circumstances change, you can always be added back to receiving district transportation by calling the Hastings Bus Company at 651-437-1888.
Students in Grades 5-8:

COURTESY STOPS
The walking distance for secondary students is a 1.75-mile radius from either the High School or the Middle School. There are transfer buses between the High School and the Middle School.

Students must be registered by August 7, 2026, to be scheduled for pickup at a courtesy stop by completing the 26-27 Courtesy Stop Registration.
Registrations received between August 8th and September 4th will be processed with a start date of September 14th. Any registrations received after September 4th will require a 1-week processing period prior to your student being eligible to ride.
Students in Grades 9-12:
Students living in areas eligible for busing will be required to OPT-IN (register) to receive transportation to and from school. This helps the district plan transportation services more efficiently, which reduces ride times and means lower costs and fewer changes after the year starts.
Please opt-in (register) if your student will be utilizing bus transportation by filling out this OPT-IN form no later than August 7, 2026.

**If your student is in grades 9-12 and this form is not completed, no bus transportation will be scheduled for your student.**
